Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) to support our asbestos testing services. On-the-job training will be provided to learn PLM, PCM, TEM analysis and reporting in a modern lab.

The role offers full-time hours (Mon-Fri 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) with benefits, and requires no prior laboratory experience beyond a willingness to learn and work as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is a plus
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred
• Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze bulk and solid materials for asbestos using PLM, PCM, TEM.
• Determine visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS.
• Perform quality control per QA/QC manual.
• Administrative duties including sample login, data entry, and reporting.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager

Salary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Indianapolis, IN. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
