Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in San Leandro, CA is seeking a part-time Laboratory Administrative Assistant to support the laboratory manager and analysts. This role focuses on shipping, receiving, distributing, and logging in samples, ensuring proper chain of custody and timely reporting.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or GED, strong MS Office skills, and excellent communication. The position runs Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a $20.00 hourly rate.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely and without sponsorship.
• Experience in administration, data entry, and customer service.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work in a high volume environment.
• Ability to stand and sit for various lengths of time.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Effective time management, organizational skills and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Receive environmental samples and enter Chain of Custody into LIMS system.
• Review paperwork for all incoming samples to ensure completeness and correctness.
• Quality control of samples to ensure sample integrity.
• Transfer samples based on priority to appropriate custody locations.
• Coordinate and perform sample-related activities, including shipping and receiving, processing and administration.
• Generate reports, invoices, and enter data produced by analysts into the computer system for the production of the final, client ready report.
• Ensure the final report is prepared and that the results are reported to the client in a timely manner.
• Assist with internal and external client questions via phone, e-mail, and in person.
• Act as a liaison between clients and laboratory staff.
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager.
