Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen accessioning and LIS workflow in a busy clinical setting. You will verify labels, process samples for automated testing, register patients, and coordinate with laboratories to ensure accurate, timely results.

Strong communication and data-entry skills are essential, with a high school diploma and up to 6 months lab experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation required.
• 0 to 6 months experience in laboratory.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent computer/data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Accept specimens from delivery, verify logs, labels and requisitions.
• Notify personnel of unacceptable samples and resolve receipt issues.
• Process and distribute samples to laboratories per SOP and manage time-sensitive cases.
• Register patients and place orders based on requisitions.
• Answer calls and provide first-rate customer service to laboratory staff.
• Enter required pre-analytic information into LIS and prepare for automated platforms.
• Arrange courier pickups as needed and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Follow PPE and safety protocols and participate in staff training.
