NYU Langone Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to screen and accession specimens into LIS, reconcile information, and ensure each specimen is correctly labeled and matched to the requisition. You will process samples, manage work queues, coordinate specimen transport, and support lab staff with customer service, quality checks, and compliance with safety procedures.

This role requires strong communication and data-entry skills and offers a pathway to growth within a leading academic

Competenze

High School diploma or equivalent required.
0–6 months laboratory experience preferred.

Mansioni

Accept specimens from delivery, verify labels and requisitions.
Notify personnel for unacceptable samples and document as per SOP.
Process and accession specimens, prepare for LIS and automated platforms.
Register patients and place orders based on requisitions.
Answer phones and provide professional customer service to lab staff and providers.
Process samples for automated instrumentation and ensure proper labeling.
Arrange courier pickups as needed and maintain specimens transport.
Maintain clean, organized workspaces and restock supplies.
Follow PPE and safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
Assist in training new accessioning staff and perform other duties as assigned.
Process and ship referrals to outside laboratories with proper documentation.
