Labor Relations Attorney | Fully Remote, California | $235,000 to $350,000

You can tell how a representation election is going by what comes out of the ballot box. Somebody has written a comment on theirs. Somebody else has drawn something. Then the count lands 41 to 39, and the whole thing turns on two challenged ballots and whether a supervisor said the wrong thing in a break room three weeks earlier.

Traditional labor is the part of employment work that still has people in it. You'd be in bargaining sessions, running unfair labor practice charges at the Board, arguing grievance arbitrations, and on the phone to an employer at 7am the day a petition turns up. It pays $235,000 to $350,000 and it's fully remote anywhere in California.

• Representation petitions, from the hearing through to the count and the objections afterward
• Collective bargaining, including the sessions where nothing happens for four hours
• Unfair labor practice charges, the Board's investigation and the position statement that answers it
• Grievance arbitrations, picking your witnesses out of a workforce that all has to go back to work on Monday
• Appeals, including the ones where the Board got it wrong and everybody involved knows it
