Job summary

Distinct is seeking an experienced Employment Defense Attorney in California with remote or hybrid flexibility. The role focuses on defending employers in wage and hour class actions, PAGA claims, and related disputes from offices in California.

The work includes handling discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination suits, arbitration motions, and trial preparation, with advisory support for HR teams as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of employment litigation experience, ideally including wage and hour or PAGA claims.
• Defense side preferred, but strong employment litigators from any background are welcome to discuss.

Responsibilities

• Handle wage and hour class actions and PAGA claims.
• Litigate discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination matters.
• File and argue motions to compel arbitration.
• Conduct depositions, discovery, dispositive motions, mediations and trial.
• Provide HR advisory support when needed.

Employment Defense Attorney | California | Remote or Hybrid | $150,000 to $275,000+

I'm working with several California firms that defend employers and need experienced employment litigators. Several are fully remote, others hybrid from offices in Orange County, Los Angeles, San Diego and the Bay Area.

The work

• Wage and hour class actions and PAGA claims
• Discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination suits
• Motions to compel arbitration
• Depositions, discovery, dispositive motions, mediations and trial
• Advice work for HR teams if you want it

Pay

$150,000 to $275,000+ base depending on the firm and your experience, plus bonus and full benefits.

What they need
