The Illinois Department of Early Childhood seeks a Legal Counsel - Labor and Employment to provide specialized guidance under the General Counsel's direction. The role engages with union representatives through the grievance process, conducts complex legal research on state and federal law, and serves as secondary contact for FOIA requests involving labor, personnel, and discrimination issues.

Ideal candidates will have a JD from an accredited law school, an active Illinois license, and at least

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Active Illinois law license.
Three years of progressively responsible administrative legal experience.
Experience providing legal representation in labor and employment matters including discrimination charges.
Experience conducting workplace investigations and preparing legally sound findings.
Knowledge of labor relations and experience in unionized environments.
Ability to conduct complex legal research and respond to FOIA requests.
