Job summary

The Office of General Counsel for the State of Illinois seeks a dynamic, licensed attorney in Illinois to serve as Assistant General Counsel for Labor & Employment. This role will advise leadership in the Office of Labor Relations and Human Resources, and will coordinate with agencies on labor and employment issues, including discipline, wage/hour, and immigration concerns.

Conducts complex legal research on labor and employment issues affecting DHS.
Analyzes, drafts, and reviews proposed legislation, rules, and policies for HR and Labor Relations.

Responsibilities

Provides legal advice and counsel to the Department of Human Services on all labor and employment matters.
Represents the Department of Human Services before the Civil Service Commission in rules violation proceedings.
Conducts complex legal research regarding labor and employment law as assigned by senior Counsel.
Analyzes, drafts, and reviews proposed legislation, rules, and policies for HR and Labor Relations.
Reviews subpoenas, search warrants, and other information requests received by HR or Labor Relations.
