Job summary

Leoforce in New York is seeking a Labor & Employment Associate to advise employers on federal, state, and local laws and handle complex litigation and counseling matters. You will draft policies, manage investigations, and work with senior attorneys on sophisticated matters.

The ideal candidate has a JD from an accredited law school, 3–6 years of Labor & Employment experience, legal writing and research skills, and admission to the New York Bar.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
• 3–6 years of Labor & Employment experience in a law firm environment
• Experience with employment litigation, counseling, compliance, and/or traditional labor matters
• Excellent legal writing, research, analytical, and communication skills
• Strong judgment and attention to detail
• High emotional intelligence and the ability to develop strong client and team relationships
• Demonstrated work ethic and commitment to providing exceptional client service
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines while maintaining a high-quality work product
• Admission to the New York Bar required

Responsibilities

• Advise employers on federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and leave issues
• Counsel clients on traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining, labor arbitrations, union-related matters, labor-management relations, and proceedings before the NLRB
• Draft and update employment policies, employee handbooks, employment agreements, separation agreements, and other workplace-related documents
• Manage agency investigations involving the EEOC, DOL, and state and local agencies
• Handle employment and labor disputes in federal and state courts, as well as administrative proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, position statements, discovery motions, and other legal filings
• Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document collection and production, subpoenas, and discovery disputes
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and corporate representatives
• Work directly with clients and senior attorneys on sophisticated employment and labor matters
• Assist with proactive employment counseling and compliance matters designed to help clients minimize litigation risk
