A highly regarded law firm in the Baltimore-DC market, specializing in business law and complex commercial litigation, is seeking a Lateral Partner to join their growing practice. The ideal candidate must be an expert in Labor & Employment matters, and have experience representing entities and individuals through the entire lifecycle of the employment relationship. A portable book of business is preferred but not required, and Sr. Associates who have experience originating business, or may have a trending non-portable book of business, are encouraged to apply.

Core Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess general OR specialized knowledge of Labor & Employment law and have significant experience originating new business. They will be a true subject matter expert in L&E will have experience participating in thought leadership, such as speaking events, written articles, or other industry facing platforms. The desire to grow is paramount - the firm is experiencing major growth in their client base and prioritizing ambitious practice leaders who can be additive to their long-term success.

Sr. Associates who have experience originating business, or may have a trending non-portable book of business, are encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities:

• Advise business clients on employment contracts, employment policies and employee handbooks
• Advise on classification of workers including independent contractor matters
• Counsel wage and hour matters including overtime and prevailing wage, employee benefits, employee leave, executive compensation and employee performance
• Identify and mitigate anti-discrimination and anti-harassment, workplace safety, and immigration matters
• Counsel clients on joint employer issues, collective bargaining matters, and workplace privacy.

Qualifications:

• Barred in Maryland, DC, or Virginia
• 5-10+ years of experience
• Smart & sharp worker who can operate autonomously
• Good communicator with the ability to collaborate on work product
• Ambitious legal professional with desire to grow their practice
• Portable book of business threshold of $250k+ (preferred)
