Job summary

Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, NJ seeks an Obstetrical Technician to support labor and delivery services under nurse supervision. You will scrub, prepare instruments, and assist surgeons in LDRP procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care procedures as delegated under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform procedures using proper aseptic technique.
• Demonstrates knowledge of equipment and supplies used for procedures in LDRP.
• Sets and scrubs on all operative procedures in LDRP.
• Assists surgeon with instruments, sutures, sponges and supplies; maintains correct count.
• Assists with maintenance and care of specimens as directed.
• Assists with table equipment, patient positioning and dressings; prepares instruments for processing.
• Maintains cleanliness and proper flow in operating rooms and stock par levels.
• Serves as a role model and resource for staff on LDRP.
• Participates in departmental activities and committees.
• Responds effectively to changing work environment to meet patient needs.
• Accompanies or transports patients to other departments as needed.
• Acts as a patient advocate and promotes patient rights.
• Maintains a clean and safe patient environment.
• Maintains confidentiality of employees and patients.
• Demonstrates fiscal accountability in handling supplies and equipment.
• Follows hospital policies on fire safety, infection control and conduct.
• Attends mandatory education seminars and inservice training.
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Performs additional related duties as needed.
