Northwell Health is hiring a Labor and Delivery Surgical Technologist to assist in maternal, infant, and surgical care under RN supervision. The role focuses on providing safe, compassionate care to neonates and women of childbearing age, aligned with department philosophy and hospital policies.

Responsibilities include preparing the surgical suite, ensuring sterile technique, coordinating equipment, and adhering to infection control and safety standards.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduated from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program and CST certification.
• Military surgical technology program.
• 15 hours of CE annually.

Aufgaben

• Prepare the surgical suite with available data for procedures.
• Prepare supplies, instruments and equipment using the OR schedule and physician cards.
• Maintain sterile/aseptic technique and follow infection control policies.
• Maintain counts of sponges, sharps and instruments as required.
• Ensure cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.
• Check equipment for proper operation and report unsafe conditions.
• Verify sterilization exposure and packaging integrity.
• Assist in instrument prep for decontamination and restocking.
• Follow Infection Control and QA policies at all times.
• Identify problems in patient care and escalate to the RN/Nurse Manager.
• Adhere to safety regulations and report variances immediately.
• Report incidents and unusual occurrences to supervisor promptly.
• Model REACH values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, Honor).
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as required.
