Labor and Delivery Clinical Nurse Coordinator

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. In collaboration with management, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care according to policies/procedures, serves as a resource for staff, and models commitment to the organization’s values to support excellent patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission and discharge processes for efficient throughput and care quality.
• Participate in ongoing assessment of patient care quality in collaboration with management.
• Create a teamwork environment supporting improved outcomes and service.
• Engage in service recovery and support a patient-first philosophy.
• Implement nursing strategies to improve staff engagement, such as employee rounding and hourly rounds.
• Provide recommendations for staff hiring, training, conflict resolution, and performance evaluations.
• Assist with staff scheduling and manage staffing needs based on patient care demands.
• Support inventory control and manage supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of employment.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment.
• Registered Nurse license.
• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• At least 2 years of RN experience in Labor and Delivery.
• Leadership experience in Women’s, L&D, NICU, or Mother-Baby units.

The CNC will serve as Charge and Assistant Nurse Manager, working overnight shifts, and must be comfortable being the go-to person for staffing needs. Capable of delivering babies and scrubbing in the OR as needed.
