Job summary

Aultman Health Foundation in Canton, OH is seeking a laboratory support technician to process and handle specimens, supporting testing personnel and ensuring specimen quality per hospital policies. Under supervision, you will perform pre-analytical tasks, waived/low complexity testing, load specimens on instruments, and assist with inventory, training, and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in a science or health related field preferred.
• Previous laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain limited competency in Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Specimen Processing, Urinalysis, Toxicology.
• Perform waived/low complexity testing such as pregnancy tests, occult blood, and urine dipsticks.
• Process specimens to ensure integrity and distribute to appropriate testing areas.
• Order and receive specimens using computer systems; order supplies.
• Assist with inventory control, storeroom and receipt of reagent and supply orders.
• Communicate with nursing units and laboratory leadership to prioritize workload.
• Adhere to hospital policies and code of conduct; participate in competency programs.
• Perform instrument and equipment maintenance per guidelines.

Education
