Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have some experience with medical terminology.
• Must have basic computer skills and familiarity with Cerner.
• Ability to multi-task and stay focused on duties.
• Effective communication with peers, management and healthcare personnel.

Responsibilities

• Ensure specimens are registered, ordered, and processed correctly per policies.
• Work with ALS, Microbiology, Virology, and Send Out departments cross-functionally.
• Scan requisitions into Cerner and enter patient/insurance data accurately.
• Order lab work from OPD, ALS and CareEvolve requisitions.
• Prepare specimens for testing and load the automated track per guidelines.
• Cent rifuge and separate specimens per test requirements; aliquot as needed.
• Monitor and prioritize work; maintain safety and infection-control standards.
• Provide technical information to laboratory customers and direct questions appropriately.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient records and uphold professional integrity.
• Assist in projects and other tasks as assigned by leadership.
• Troubleshoot issues as they arise and support team objectives.
