Job summary

Health Network Laboratories, LLC is seeking a Laboratory Technical Assistant to support specimen processing, QA tasks, and entry of results in the Laboratory Information System under direct supervision. The role covers handling of specimens (blood, urine, feces, and other fluids), QC checks, and calibration activities in a fast-paced laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED; two years in a clinical environment with data processing/specimen handling experience.
• AS degree preferred or equivalent demonstration of education and experience.
• Graduate of health/medical assistant or similar training program from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Processes and prepares specimens for transport and/or analysis.
• Performs standard QC tasks and simple to moderate testing under direct supervision.
• Performs CLIA classified moderately complex testing and enters results into LIS under supervision.
• Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions and records troubleshooting activities.
• Calibrates pipettes and thermometers and records data according to SOPs.
• Prepares reagents/controls and manages specimen labeling and handling.
• Maintains inventory and notifies supervisor of shortages.
• Assists in continuing education and competency reviews for staff.
