AdventHealth is hiring a Laboratory Phlebotomy Technician in Davenport, FL. The role encompasses point-of-care testing, specimen collection, handling of blood samples and related lab workflows in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Technical skills related to laboratory procedures performed in department.
• Able to communicate effectively in English with patients, staff and customers.
• Ability to read text and numbers in English; good problem solving and judgment under supervision.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to handle confidential information within guidelines and regulations.
• Ability to handle infectious specimens and hazardous materials safely.
• Must read/write/speak English well and understand clinical workflows.
• Minimum typing skills of 30 wpm preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform point of care testing, quality control, maintenance, troubleshooting and reporting results.
• Provide clerical and receptionist support as needed to facilitate department operations.
• Process and transport specimens, including loading instruments and notifying testing area.
• Collect blood specimens via phlebotomy and skin puncture for all ages.
• Train new staff and act as a preceptor when assigned.
• Follow safety policies, PPE usage, and infection control procedures.
• Assist in performance improvement activities and equipment evaluation.
