Job summary

MCW is seeking a Laboratory Support professional to provide essential assistance in a research environment. You will help with cleaning and sterilizing glassware, operating basic lab equipment, and preparing buffers and water for investigators.

The role also involves organizing supplies and maintaining inventory with attention to detail. Working under supervision, you will participate in meetings with principal investigators and staff to interpret data and ensure proper documentation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required or equivalent experience.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clean and sterilized glassware for use in research lab.
  • Operate and maintain basic lab equipment (e.g., autoclaving).
  • Prepare media buffers and water for research areas as needed.
  • Assist in organizing and setup lab supplies and equipment for investigators.
  • Assist with inventory and record-keeping of supplies; participate in meetings with PI and staff and evaluate data.

Summary

Under direct supervision, provide basic support to laboratory functions including maintenance, operation and inventory of equipment and supplies. Support research investigators as needed.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide clean and sterilized glassware for use in research lab.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of basic lab equipment such as autoclaving.
  • Make and supply media buffers and water to research areas as needed.
  • Assist in organizing and setup lab supplies and equipment for individual research investigators.
  • Assist with inventory and record of supplies. Participate in meetings with principle investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
  • Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.
  • Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.

Physical Requirements

Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Sensory Acuity

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
