Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking a laboratory support role to assist in daily lab operations in an on-site environment. The position involves basic maintenance, sterilization, and inventory management to support research investigators and lab teams.
Under supervision, you will prepare glassware, operate standard equipment, and help organize supplies for multiple projects. Strong attention to detail and basic writing skills are valuable in documenting procedures and results.
Under direct supervision, provide basic support to laboratory functions including maintenance, operation and inventory of equipment and supplies. Support research investigators as needed.
Provide clean and sterilized glassware for use in research lab.
Operate and maintain a variety of basic lab equipment such as autoclaving.
Make and supply media buffers and water to research areas as needed.
Assist in organizing and setup lab supplies and equipment for individual research investigators.
Assist with inventory and record of supplies.
Participate in meetings with principle investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.
Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education an on equivalent basis.
Minimum Required Education: Less than high school
Minimum Required Experience: No experience required
Work requires infrequent physical effort such as walking or retrieving materials.
Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
