Job Summary

Performs technical procedures in a research laboratory under minimal supervision by applying standard scientific techniques and analytical principles.

Responsibilities

1. Confers with senior laboratory personnel regarding procedures and techniques, recommending modifications as needed.
2. Performs specialized tests and procedures using complex equipment.
3. Procures supplies and materials needed for laboratory research.
4. Conducts literature reviews to obtain abstracts and information for research.
5. Makes statistical calculations, analyzes data, and prepares reports summarizing results.
6. May supervise the care of research animals; perform minor animal surgery or collect tissues and specimens for analysis.
7. Orders supplies and experimental materials needed for research.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related scientific field or equivalent experience. Knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safety protocols. Skilled in laboratory equipment use, data analysis, and report preparation. Good communication skills. OSHA training and animal care certification may be required.
