TEKsystems seeks a Robotics Engineer to support teleoperation, data collection, and lab operations for autonomous systems in Mountain View, CA. You will design, test, and deploy robot workflows, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure repeatable experimental setups for robotics projects.

The role involves hands-on mechanical, electrical, and software tasks, with a focus on stakeholding stakeholders and ensuring compliant lab practices. Onsite work five days a week is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on robotics experience with teleoperation, manipulation, data collection, and lab operations.
• Experience with camera calibration, sensor synchronization, and stereo/RGB-D data collection.
• Familiarity with ROS 2 workflows and software deployment to physical robots.
• Ability to work onsite full-time in Mountain View, CA and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Description

Can sit in Warren, MI or Mountain View, California - 5 days a week onsite. Professional Summary Robotics Engineer with hands‑on experience in teleoperation, robotic manipulation, mechanical fabrication, electrical prototyping, computer vision, data collection, software deployment, and robotics laboratory operations. Skilled at preparing safe, repeatable experiment setups and supporting robotics teams from hardware configuration through teleoperation, data validation, and system evaluation.

Core Skills

• Experience with teleoperation and data collection using UMI and other teleoperation platforms.
• Performed tasks ranging from pick-and-place to complex manipulation and assembly.
• Experience with structured data capture, annotation, review, and quality control.
• Basic understanding of robotic manipulation, imitation learning, computer vision, and robotics‑training datasets.
• Experience with systemic policy evaluations, results analysis, and reporting.

Sensors and Vision Systems

• Experience with camera calibration, sensor synchronization, coordinate frames, and stereo/RGB-D data.
• Supported vision‑based robotics projects using stereo‑camera and other camera systems.
• Collected structured datasets and created controlled variation using lighting techniques and diverse visual conditions.

Robotics Lab Operations

• Prepare robots, workstations, sensors, peripherals, power connections, and test areas for experiments.
• Support Lab Technicians and Robotics Engineers with setup, readiness checks, and experiment execution.
• Manage setup changes between experiments and troubleshoot basic equipment or connectivity issues.
• Maintain inventory and coordinate incoming and outgoing parts and experimental equipment.
• Work with vendors on ordering, shipping, warranty, service, and returns.
• Work with local and remote GM teams to obtain documentation, instructions, and materials.
• Coordinate with Facilities Management and Security on building and room use, power, storage, receiving, and access.
• Maintain logs, test notes, issue records and hand‑over documentation.
• Follow lab, industrial, equipment‑safety, and data‑collection SOPs.

Mechanical Design and Fabrication

• Design camera mounts, brackets, fixtures, and custom hardware for robotics experiments.
• Use CAD, 3D printing, power tools, and mechanical equipment to prototype and install components.
• Modify and iterate physical hardware to improve stability, positioning, usability, and repeatability.

Software, Simulation, and Deployment

• Work comfortably in Ubuntu/Linux environments using terminal‑based workflows.
• Use basic Linux, Git, Python, and Bash to run scripts, inspect logs, and review, clean, or validate data.
• Support basic ROS 2 workflows and software deployment to physical robots.
• Follow SOPs for configuration checks, model deployment, software validation, and troubleshooting.
• Configure or validate simulation environments, including exposure to Isaac Sim.
• Bridge software workflows with physical robot operation, testing, and system integration.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
