Job summary

Actalent in Lancaster, PA is seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to prepare samples for laboratory testing and perform SOP-based prep, plating, and media preparation in a fast-paced environment.

You will document work accurately, maintain clean workspaces, and follow GMP and quality procedures while supporting operations to meet turnaround times. Shifts include 3:00 PM–11:30 PM and related schedules, with on-site work.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in a relevant field.
• Experience in laboratory, food manufacturing, or high-volume environments.
• Experience with aseptic techniques is a plus.
• Able to stand for extended periods.

Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician to prepare samples for laboratory testing and perform sample preparation activities according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). The role involves preparing media and laboratory materials, plating samples for microbiological analysis, and accurately documenting completed work. The technician will maintain clean and organized work areas while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), laboratory safety, and quality procedures. Additionally, the technician will support laboratory operations to ensure turnaround times are met.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for laboratory testing.
• Perform sample preparation activities according to SOPs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in laboratory, food manufacturing, retail, restaurant, production, warehouse, or other high-volume operational environments.
• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Experience with aseptic techniques and food science is a plus.

Work Environment

Work in a fast-paced food and environmental testing laboratory with a team-oriented environment and high sample volume. Tasks include sample preparation, plating, and media preparation with strict adherence to quality and safety standards. Employees will spend the majority of their shift on their feet. Flexible schedules are required, with potential for overtime. Shifts available: Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM; Tuesday to Saturday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM or 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM; Sunday to Thursday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
