Actalent is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to support food safety, product quality, and manufacturing operations in Mount Joy, PA. The role involves routine analytical testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, with focus on microbiology, environmental monitoring, and documentation in a fast-paced facility.

The successful candidate will work closely with Operations and Quality teams, follow GMP procedures, and manage daily testing schedules after training.

Competenze

  • 2+ years of quality laboratory experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.

Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician (FSQ Laboratory Technician) performs routine analytical testing and inspections to support food safety, product quality, and manufacturing operations. This role focuses on testing raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, maintaining laboratory equipment, accurately documenting results, and helping ensure compliance with food safety and quality programs. The technician works independently after training, follows documented procedures and specifications, and collaborates closely with operations, production, and quality teams in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment.

This role focuses on testing raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, maintaining laboratory equipment, accurately documenting results, and helping ensure compliance with food safety and quality programs. The technician works independently after training, follows documented procedures and specifications, and collaborates closely with operations, production, and quality teams in a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine analytical testing on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to support food safety and quality programs.
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance testing in a food manufacturing environment, following established laboratory procedures and specifications.
  • Carry out laboratory testing, including microbiology testing, environmental monitoring, and environmental swabbing, in accordance with documented methods.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment by monitoring performance, performing basic upkeep, and reporting any issues that could affect test accuracy.
  • Document test results accurately and completely, including data entry into laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other quality systems.
  • Support compliance with food safety programs and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) by following all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor production processes and equipment as needed to support quality and food safety, and communicate findings to operations and production teams.
  • Interact cross-functionally with Operations, Production, and Quality teams to resolve issues, share test results, and support continuous improvement.
  • Make decisions based on documented procedures, specifications, and test results, escalating issues when results fall outside established limits.
  • Work independently after training to manage daily testing schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely completion of laboratory and documentation activities.
Essential Skills
  • 2+ years of quality laboratory experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Hands‑on experience in quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) within a laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency in laboratory testing techniques relevant to food safety and quality.
  • Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environment.
  • Strong knowledge in food safety practices and standards.
  • Ability to perform environmental monitoring and environmental swabbing.
  • Experience with microbiology testing in a food manufacturing or laboratory environment.
  • Competence in documentation and data entry, including accurate recording of test results.
  • Ability to work independently after training and make decisions based on documented procedures and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized methods and protocols.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Prior experience in food manufacturing QA/QC roles.
  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced production support role.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with cross‑functional teams in Operations, Production, and Quality.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks, including testing, equipment monitoring, documentation, and communication responsibilities.
Work Environment

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility with an associated laboratory environment. The position supports a fast‑paced production setting and involves a combination of laboratory testing, equipment monitoring, documentation, and frequent communication with Operations, Production, and Quality teams. The schedule follows a rotating pattern of 7 days on and 7 days off, with a day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and a night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Initial training takes place Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM for approximately one month. The work environment follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and employees work around food production equipment, laboratory instruments, and standard laboratory materials.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $52000.00/yr.
