Job summary

HARTING Americas is seeking a Lab Technician to work with the Lab Engineer in building, preparing, and testing product samples and prototypes per lab guidelines and quality standards. The role includes maintenance of test equipment and working closely with QC/Metrology teams.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or 1-2 years in electronics/cable assembly, with soldering and data collection experience. A hybrid work policy is offered with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree from 2-year College or University; and/or 1-2 years of work experience in electronics/cable assembly.
• Experience with soldering in a station environment preferred.
• Experience using DMM, oscilloscope, hipot tester, AC/DC power supply, environmental test chambers, electro-mechanical & IP tester preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical work preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of QC principles; detail oriented and eager to learn new things.

Responsibilities

• Build and prepare specimen samples and prototypes for testing per lab specs and standards.
• Perform tests on new and existing product samples; record data and evaluate results for conformance.
• Set up and conduct tests involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and IP tests.
• Troubleshoot equipment, fixtures, and test setups.
• Assist QC personnel in Metrology Equipment Quality program.
• Maintain lab equipment and perform/assist with maintenance.
• Keep lab spaces organized, clean, and safe; work with minimal supervision.
• Meet deadlines and objectives.

The Lab Technician will work closely with the Lab Engineer to build, prepare, test product samples and prototypes in accordance with Lab guideline and quality standard including Maintenance of Test equipment.

To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:

• Build and or prepare specimen samples and prototypes for testing in accordance with Lab specifications and quality standards.
• Perform Test of new and existing product samples, record, collect data and evaluate test results if product test samples are in conformance.
• Set up and conduct test involving mechanical, electrical, environmental and electromechanical functions including IP water and dust test chambers.
• Troubleshoot technical issues with equipment, fixtures and or test set ups.
• Assist and collaborate with QC personnel in Metrology Equipment Quality program.
• Assist/Perform Lab equipment maintenance and or corrective maintenance.
• Maintain organized, clean and safe lab workspaces.
• This position must be able to work alone with minimal supervision
• Meet target deadlines and objectives

Skills and experience to thrive in this role:

• Associates Degree from 2-year College or University; and/or 1-2 years of work experience in a related industry (electronics/cable assembly) and training.
• Experience with Soldering/Tinning in a soldering station environment is preferred.
• Experience using DMM, Oscilloscope, Hipot tester, AC/DC Power supply, Environmental Test Chambers, Electro-Mechanical & IP (Water and Dust) tester is preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of Electrical and Mechanical work is preferred.
• Excellent written, oral and communication skills
• Demonstrates high proficiency with various Microsoft Office Programs
• Demonstrate an understanding of important QC principles
• Detail oriented and have the willingness to learn new things

Compensation:

• HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage.
• Competitive hourly rate: $23.00/hr - 30.00/hr (commensurate with experience)
