Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Prior laboratory experience or knowledge preferred.
• Efficient in operation of office equipment including computers, fax, copiers, and telecommunications systems.

Responsibilities

• Collects used glassware from various sections of the laboratory and transports to work area.
• Dispose of slides, blocks, formalin items, chemical waste
• Fill blocks and slides for Histology and Cytology areas
• Maintain packing lists
• Send out pathologist consultations
• Maintain Reference Lab supplies and ordering
• Check in, order and process pap smears and maintain supplies
• Washes and cleans glassware equipment
• Sterilizes supplies when designated
• Inspects, restocks and cleans morgue and surgical pathology lab.
• Supplies all departments with necessary expendable items
• Obtains supplies from other departments as required
• Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment
• Distributes cleaned glassware to the appropriate sections of the lab
• Tags laboratory supplies and puts them away
• Files microplastic slides for the histology department
• Assists in other areas of department and corporation as needed, completing other duties as assigned.
