Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our team in Brentwood, TN. The role involves supervising the Flow Cytometry Department, ensuring accurate test results, and coaching staff within a regulated environment.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or medical technology and at least 4 years of clinical lab testing experience. Preference given to candidates with supervisory experience and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 4+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• Preference for supervising/leading a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations of the Flow Cytometry Department.
• Ensure tests are accurately performed and results reported timely.
• Directly supervise, train, and mentor department personnel.
• Monitor daily workflow and ensure adequate assay coverage.
• Staff the department shifts and schedules.
• Address production errors and escalate when necessary.
• Pursue continuous process and service improvements.
• Maintain equipment with Quality Control; prepare QA records.
• Evaluate new processes and recommend improvements.
• Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports.
• Perform bench work as needed and maintain competency.
• Ensure compliance with state and Federal regulations.
• Administer policies and procedures; manage payroll/files.
• Perform administrative duties as needed.

Job description

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our team in Brentwood, TN.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 11:00 pm - 7:30 am

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Flow Cytometry Department
• Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
• Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department
• Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
• Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
• Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
• Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
• Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control
• Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
• Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
• Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
• Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
• Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations
• Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
• Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
• Perform administrative duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 months or more of supervising or leading a team
• ASCP or AMT certification

Additional Job Standards

• Non‑traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations and policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high‑volume laboratory environment
• Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable making decisions in a changing environment
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
