Job summary

Sanford Health seeks an experienced laboratory leader to manage day-to-day operations of the laboratory or laboratory department. You will ensure adherence to SOPs, safety, quality and regulatory requirements, and provide direction to technical staff.

The role may involve acting as CLIA Qualified Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor, or Technical Consultant as needed. You will lead staff, participate in hiring, budgeting, training, and cross-department collaboration to optimize workflow,

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; in Iowa or Bismarck, North Dakota, a Bachelor's degree is required.
• Two years of laboratory related experience required.
• National certification (e.g., MLT/MLS/HT) or registry-eligible with certification within 12 months of hire.
• ND license or provisional license if working in North Dakota.
• Continuing education credits as required for licensure and certifications.
• BLS certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Collect laboratory specimens as needed.
• Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing per SOPs.
• Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position.
• Provide leadership of day-to-day operations of the laboratory.
• Serve as liaison between technical staff and laboratory leadership.
• Participate in validations, proficiency testing and quality assurance initiatives.
• Assist in interviewing and hiring of new staff.
• Collaborate with other departments across the enterprise.
