Job summary

South Shore Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the SSH Lab Specimen Processing team in Weymouth, MA. The role focuses on specimen processing, customer service, and non-technical duties within the General Laboratory.

Responsibilities include logging in specimens, ensuring proper labeling, LIS data entry, specimen transport, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. Monday–Friday day shifts with a 40-hour schedule.

Qualifications

• Equivalent of four (4) years of high school education.
• Up to three (3) months to become proficient.
• Preferred MLA certification (ASCP or AMT).

Responsibilities

• Receives, logs-in, and assigns accession numbers to specimens.
• Maintains LIS data entry and reporting accuracy.
• Maintains clean work area and restocks supplies.
• Answers phones and communicates test results to nursing floors.
• Transports specimens to laboratory sections and ensures timely delivery.
