Job Description:

SUMMARY
Assists department with the students utilizing the Veterinary Technician training lab.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Responsible for set up and operation of the training lab.
  2. Assists faculty with student based Veterinary Technician projects.
  3. Interface with the industry advisory board.
  4. Assists the faculty in evaluation of student techniques for grade.
  5. Collaborates with students and faculty to deliver courses.
  6. Assists with the maintenance and cleanliness of Veterinary Technician labs.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  1. High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  2. Registered Veterinary Technician.
  3. Minimum one year of related experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  1. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Possess excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships.
  3. Ability to diagnose and facilitate minor equipment repairs.
  4. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  5. Ability to work a flexible schedule as directed.
  6. Possess sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.
  2. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
  3. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.
  4. Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.

Special Note: This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, Grade 08, with a Minimum Hiring Rate of: $20.00/hour.
