Job summary

The Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka is seeking a Staff Lab Assistant to be the frontline Labs Customer Service contact. You will greet patients, providers, and clients and ensure accurate ordering and charge entry of laboratory tests for outpatient and contracted patients.

Responsibilities include processing requisitions, verifying documentation, entering test orders, transferring results to medical records, and timely communication of STAT results.

Qualifications

• Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred.
• Customer Service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Staff Lab Assistant is the Labs Customer Service contact, greeting laboratory patients, providers, clients, and customers; ensures accurate ordering and charge entry of laboratory orders for outpatient and contracted clients.
• Processes laboratory requisitions by reviewing for completeness and signatures, patient information, and date of order.
• Accurately orders test requests in the computer according to procedure and transfers test information to medical records.
• Receives lab reports and routes to designated areas via FAX, mail or hand-delivery; communicates STAT results promptly.
