Job summary

Albemarle is seeking a Health, Safety, and Environment Site Lead for Research and Technology in Baton Rouge. This onsite role provides leadership for the Lab Safety Program at the Baton Rouge Site and interfaces with contributors, managers and HS&E leadership to drive continuous improvement.

The role reports to the R&T Site Leader and requires strong communication, policy execution, risk assessment and audit leadership within Laboratory environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
• Experience supervising and maintaining HSE systems.
• 5+ years in a lab-focused HSE role in chemical/pharma/oil & gas, preferably in R&D labs.
• Experience with regulatory aspects and best practices of laboratory work.
• Certified Safety Professional certification.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply knowledge of Albemarle's HSE policies and procedures, including regulatory reporting and training.
• Lead policy updates, creation, and implementation.
• Document and communicate HS&E expectations, outcomes, and metrics.
• Lead planning and execution of risk assessments and lab safety audits.
• Lead investigations of incidents and observations in R&T labs.
• Operate internal documentation systems like SAP and SharePoint; be proficient with MS Office.
• Understand LA and US federal regulations; collaborate with Site HS&E Manager.
