Job summary

United Trading Group is seeking a Safety Manager to lead the environmental, health, and safety program at the Utah San Rafael Energy Lab (USREL). The role requires overseeing safety for hazardous chemicals, molten salts, compressed gases, and heavy equipment, with authority to stop work for imminent hazards.

The successful candidate will develop programs, assess risk, lead investigations, coordinate training and emergency preparedness, and report to the Lab Director in a high-stakes R&D

Qualifications

Ten or more years of progressively responsible safety experience in lab, research, energy, or industrial setting.
Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, science, or related field; equivalent education/experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

Inspect and audit laboratories, utilities, and work areas; verify corrective actions.
Review experiments, equipment, chemicals, and facility changes; facilitate hazard analyses and MOC evaluations.
Administer chemical hygiene, hazard communication, PPE, respiratory protection, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and spill response programs.
