Job summary

ABB Optical Group in Kentucky is seeking a Lab Team Lead for the Production Department (Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm). The role combines hands-on manufacturing with supervision, cross-training staff, and maintaining efficient, accurate lab operations.

You will manage daily tasks, review performance data, mentor employees, and drive process improvements while ensuring safety and compliance with company policies. Compensation includes a good benefits package and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of two years six months of manufacturing/optical manufacturing experience
• Ability to follow procedures and contribute as an individual and a team member
• Computer literate
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• At least one year of experience leading or training employees

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day lab tasks and delegate duties.
• Evaluate employees using a skills assessment and provide feedback.
• Partner with Management to determine department standards, procedures, and metrics to drive performance excellence.
• Review data from performance reports, determine accuracy of reports and efficiency and productivity of employees.
• Provide recommendations for immediate process or performance corrections and implement adjustments with management.
• Plan and schedule regular rotation of employees through key process responsibilities.
• Analyze and share daily production stats with employees.
• Identify trends in performance gaps and update standardized work documents accordingly.
• Report defects and inefficiencies to supervisory personnel.
• Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to improve employee performance.
• Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and prepared for the next shift.
• Address employee relations, safety concerns, and performance issues with management.
• Follow OSHA guidelines and company safety policies.
• Overtime may be required as business needs dictate.
