Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our laboratory team. You will register patients, enter test orders, and verify specimens according to department procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of a medical assistant program or a phlebotomy certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and perform test order entry accurately to ensure proper testing and charges.
• Verify specimen identification and prepares/processes specimens according to procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies for efficient operations.
• Provide support by answering telephones, faxing reports and send-outs.
• Mentor MLA students in specimen processing per AHN policies.
• Order, perform and report waived testing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
