Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Laboratorians who independently performs routine and highly complex analyses on clinical specimens across one or more sections of the laboratory. You will assist lab management with daily operations and act as a resource to peers and health care providers.

The role emphasizes quality control, instrumentation maintenance, and ongoing professional development through continuing education.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an ASCP eligible program and ongoing education for certification.
MLS/MT or categorical certification within one year of hire.
3–5 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information.
Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods.
Operates, calibrates, checks and maintains instrumentation; troubleshoots QC problems.
Serves as a consultant to laboratory personnel and health care providers; participates in continuing education.
May collect and process patient specimens per policy and within time frames.
May mentor MT/MLT, phlebotomy and lab processor students and new hires.
Communicates with manager and staff about needs of the laboratory including supplies.
Assumes supervisory duties in absence of the supervisor.
