Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Laboratory Operations Coordinator to support multiple labs in the Asymmetric Operations Sector. You will organize workflows, manage inventory, and maintain instruments to keep projects running smoothly in a dynamic, safety-focused environment.

This role requires collaboration across researchers and engineers, familiar with safety practices, and ability to develop procedures that optimize laboratory functions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years in biological/chemical laboratory.
• Experience operating lab instrumentation.
• Experience in EH/occupational health/safety/chemistry/biology related fields.
• Ability to prepare written reports.
• Self-motivated and flexible in a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communications.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple laboratories including BSL2/BSL2+ and related facilities.
• Organize equipment maintenance and service contracts.
• Support general procurement needs.
• Coordinate with EH&S office to ensure safety practices are implemented.
• Develop new procedures to optimize lab function for multi-disciplinary work.
• Facilitate a culture that promotes safety.
