Job summary

BayCare Health System in Tampa, FL is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant III in Lab Support. This role handles collection, processing and communication around patient specimens, supports nursing and physicians, and performs phlebotomy as part of a dynamic team.

Qualifications include a Florida driver’s license and credentials in phlebotomy or medical technology, with a High School diploma and 6 months of lab support experience as required. Evening shift, full-time position with weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• 6 months in lab support and 6 months BayCare related – required.
• 1 year of lab support – preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing.
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens.
• Referring specimens to outside laboratories.
• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests.
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Shift Hours: 10:30am - 7:00pm

• Weekend Work: Every 3rd

Responsibilities:

The Lab Medical Assistant III is responsible for:

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing

• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens

• Referring specimens to outside laboratories

• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests

• Performance of phlebotomy procedures

• Performs other duties as assigned

Credentials:

• Driver's License in the State of Florida

• Required ASPT (Phlebotomy Technicians)

• Or ASCP

• Or AMT (Medical Technologists)

• Or Paramedic

• Or EMT (Emergency)

• Or Medical Technologist

• Or Medical Technologist Eligible to obtain

• Or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) in the State of Florida

• Or RN (Registered Nurse) in the State of Florida

Education:

• Required High School or equivalent

Experience:

• 6 months in lab support and 6 months BayCare related - Required

• 1 year of lab support - Preferred
