Job summary

BayCare Health System in Largo, FL is hiring a Home Draw Phlebotomist for full-time work in our HomeCare branch. The role requires strong phlebotomy skills, a clean driving record, and completion of Level 2 background screening.

Location: Largo, FL; Shift: 7:00am-3:30pm; Weekend work occasional; On-call: No. Responsibilities include collecting and processing specimens for testing, communicating with nursing regarding specimens, referring samples to outside labs, and performing phlebotomy

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy or laboratory-related experience.
• Experience with inpatient/outpatient specimen processing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect, receive, and process specimens for testing.
• Coordinate with nursing and physicians regarding referrals and specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures and ensure proper labeling and handling.
• Refer specimens to outside laboratories when needed.
• Assist with other laboratory tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

The Lab Medical Assistant II is responsible for:

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens
• Referring specimens to outside laboratories
• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Experience:

• Required - 6 months Phlebotomy, Laboratory related; or related field

Education:

• Required High School or equivalent
• Or Bachelors related field in lieu of experience

Credentials:

• Driver's License

Credential equivalent experience:

• Preferred Phlebotomy
