Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant III at Outreach Lab Waters in Tampa, FL. This full-time position supports inpatient and outpatient testing, handles specimen collection, processing, and coordination with nursing and physicians.

The role requires phlebotomy skills, communication, and adherence to lab standards. Eligible candidates will have a Florida driver's license, phlebotomy certification or equivalent, and at least 6 months of lab support experience (1 year

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification required (ASPT) or equivalent.
• Florida Driver's License.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year lab support experience preferred; 6 months required.
• ASCP/AMT/Paramedic/EMT credentials also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Collect, receive and process specimens for testing.
• Communicate with nursing regarding patient specimens.
• Refer specimens to outside laboratories when needed.
• Interact with physicians, clients and staff regarding tests.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

The Lab Medical Assistant III is responsible for:

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens
• Referring specimens to outside laboratories
• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Credentials:

• Driver's License in the State of Florida
• Required ASPT (Phlebotomy Technicians)
• Or ASCP
• Or AMT (Medical Technologists)
• Or Paramedic
• Or EMT (Emergency)
• Or Medical Technologist
• Or Medical Technologist Eligible to obtain
• Or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) in the State of Florida
• Or RN (Registered Nurse) in the State of Florida

Education:

• Required High School or equivalent

Experience:

• 6 months in lab support and 6 months BayCare related - Required
• 1 year of lab support - Preferred
