Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant II to join the Bloomingdale Main facility. You will collect and process specimens for testing, coordinate with nursing and physicians, and perform phlebotomy as part of a clinical team delivering high-quality patient care.

Eligible candidates have at least 6 months of phlebotomy or laboratory experience and a high school diploma or equivalent; a related bachelor’s degree can substitute for experience.

Qualifications

• 6 months phlebotomy or laboratory experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent; or a related Bachelor’s degree in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing.
• Communicate with nursing regarding patient specimens.
• Refer specimens to outside laboratories.
• Interact with physicians, clients, and staff regarding referral lab tests.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Lab Medical Assistant II is responsible for:

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens
• Referring specimens to outside laboratories
• Interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Experience

• Required
• 6 months Phlebotomy, Laboratory related; or related field

Education

• Required High School or equivalent
• Or Bachelors related field in lieu of experience

Credentials

• Driver's License

Credential Equivalent Experience

• Preferred Phlebotomy
