Job summary

BayCare Health System in Winter Haven, FL, is seeking a Lab Medical Assistant II to collect, receive, and process specimens for testing. You will liaise with nursing staff regarding patient specimens and coordinate referrals with outside laboratories while performing phlebotomy and related duties.

The role requires at least 6 months of phlebotomy or lab-related experience, with a high school diploma or equivalent (or a related bachelor’s degree in lieu of experience).

Qualifications

• 6 months phlebotomy or laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing.
• Communicate with nursing about patient specimens.
• Refer specimens to outside laboratories.
• Interact with physicians, clients and staff about referral tests.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Lab Medical Assistant II Is Responsible For

• Collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing
• Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens
• Referring specimens to outside laboratoriesInteraction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests
• Performance of phlebotomy procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Experience

• Required
• 6 months Phlebotomy, Laboratory related; or related field

Education

• Required High School or equivalent
• Or Bachelors related field in lieu of experience

Credentials

• Driver's License
