Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Fairfield Hospital is seeking a Lab Internship to assist physicians by performing tests on blood, tissues, and fluids to aid diagnosis and treatment, while supporting quality control and instrument maintenance.

The internship requires a High School degree or GED and enrollment in an accredited Health Science program (MLS/MLT) pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree, with a professional, detail-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited Health Science program (MLS/MLT) leading to an associate's or bachelor's degree.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform testing with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived and moderate complexity laboratory diagnostic test of specimens to interpret, document, and report test results
• Verify analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and reference ranges for test methods
• Complete in-house quality checks verifications on lab equipment and instrumentation
• Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
• Organize/maintain the inventory of laboratory supplies
• Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

The Laboratory Internship will play a key role in assisting physicians by performing all aspects of testing on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to measure the substances that contribute to the diagnosis as well as the treatment of a condition for the patient. In addition, the Lab Intern will be responsible for quality control, instrument operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Essential Functions

• Performs waived and moderate complexity laboratory diagnostic test of specimens to interpret, document, and report test results
• Verify analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and reference ranges for test methods
• Complete in-house quality checks verifications on lab equipment and instrumentation
• Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
• Organize/maintain the inventory of laboratory supplies
• Other duties as assigned
