Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Lab Manager for Clermont Hospital to oversee all clinical laboratory services across designated sites. The role focuses on coordinating patient care activities, ensuring policy feasibility, and driving performance improvements.

The candidate will manage staffing, scheduling, onboarding, and budget adherence while leading quality initiatives and regional committee coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry (required).
• MLS or ASCP Certification (required).
• 5 years of experience in a laboratory tech setting (required).
• Previous leadership experience in a laboratory tech environment (required).

Responsibilities

• Improves laboratory operations and sets quality metrics; submits monthly reports of monitors.
• Manages department staffing, scheduling, onboarding, and budget.
• Evaluates staff performance with input from leads/supervisors.
• Facilitates regional laboratory committees and coordinates project implementations.
• Monitors expenses, participates in forecasting, budgeting, and capital planning.

Lab Manager - Clermont Hospital

Job Summary

The Lab Manager oversees all aspects of laboratory services for the clinical laboratory at designated sites. The Lab Manager interacts with other hospital services to support the coordination of patient care activities as well as achieves performance improvement initiatives. As the Lab Manager, it is important to ensure policies and procedures are feasible by making compliance a key priority.

Essential Functions

• Works to improve Laboratory operations and establish objectives related to quality metrics; monitors quality indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and submits monthly reports of monitors
• Manages laboratory department including hiring, staffing, scheduling, and onboarding of new employees; schedules staff to meet laboratory service requirements, productivity goals, and staffing budget
• Evaluates the performance of department staff and completes performance assessments with input from Lead Technologists or Supervisors
• Serves as a facilitator for regional laboratory committees and coordinates activities for completion of projects and implementation of new procedures
• Monitors laboratory expenses to meet budgetary goals. Works with their leader and participates in forecasting, planning, and budgeting. Works with their leader and collaborates with other members of the management team to develop plans for capital replacement and acquisition.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry (required)

Certifications

• Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or ASCP Certification (required)

Experience

• 5 years of experience in a laboratory tech setting (required)
• Previous experience in a leadership position in a laboratory tech environment (required)

Skills & Abilities

• Demonstrates leadership competencies and skills for the position, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, and decision making
• Possesses extensive knowledge of clinical practice or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment
