You will implement and maintain customer lab IT environments, handle benchtop computing designs, administer Windows platforms, and ensure security and compliance across systems.

Contract Duration: 6 Months — Potential Extension or Full-Time Conversion


Pay Rate: $32.54/hour (W2)

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Computing Analyst to join a dynamic laboratory IT service team supporting customer laboratory environments. The ideal candidate will provide technical support for Windows-based systems, laboratory instrumentation, desktop hardware, software, and related IT infrastructure within a regulated laboratory environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Implement, monitor, maintain, and provide technical support for customer laboratory IT environments, including systems integrated with scientific instrumentation.

  • Implement customer-specific benchtop computing designs, configurations, and processes.

  • Administer Windows-based platforms and ensure reliable connectivity across laboratory systems.

  • Provide support for operating systems, desktop hardware, peripherals, instrument-controlled software, core desktop applications, and computer imaging.

  • Manage equipment onboarding, retirement, relocation, and lifecycle activities.

  • Implement and maintain Windows security controls, including:

    • User and group permissions

    • File and folder permissions

    • Group Policies

    • Local security policies



  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify opportunities for system enhancements, upgrades, and solutions to improve desktop platform performance and reliability.

  • Ensure compliance with client corporate policies through periodic reporting and compliance programs.

  • Serve as the technical support contact for instrument vendors.

  • Troubleshoot and repair instrument-related computers and elevate infrastructure issues to appropriate client teams.

  • Provide technical support for new system validations and change management activities.

  • Create and maintain accurate physical inventories of laboratory equipment, computers, software, and other client-specified assets.

  • Submit weekly engineering reports to the team lead by close of business on the last business day of each week.

  • Serve as a client liaison for hardware- and software-related inquiries.

  • Participate in client and team meetings as required.

  • Provide support across applicable enterprise IT practices as needed.

  • Demonstrate appropriate use of office equipment and software following required training.

  • Maintain all required training and compliance related to health and safety, information security, environmental requirements, and daily operational procedures.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following:



  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2+ years of technical experience; OR

  • Associate’s Degree with 3+ years of technical experience; OR

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of technical experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with Microsoft Office, networking, remote computing, and backup technologies.

  • Experience supporting scientific or laboratory instrumentation.

  • Experience working in a Life Sciences or laboratory environment.

  • Experience working in a validated environment.

  • Experience working in a GxP, ISO, and FDA-compliant facilities.

  • Familiarity with laboratory IT systems and instrument-integrated computing environments.


Working Environment & Physical Requirements


  • Must be comfortable working in laboratory and controlled environments and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as lab coats and safety glasses.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment where workload and completion demands may be high.

  • Must be able to remain stationary for more than 25% of the workday.

  • May occasionally travel between laboratories, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings across the onsite facility.

  • Regularly operate instruments, tools, objects, and controls that may require bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching.

  • Ability to occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds, with potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

  • Must have the visual abilities necessary to perform essential job functions, including close-range and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Occasionally operate computers and standard office equipment, including calculators, copiers, and printers.

  • May be required to handle hazardous waste in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing, and labeling hazardous waste.

  • May be exposed to laboratory hazards, including extreme temperatures, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals.

  • May be required to complete medical clearance, respiratory protection training, and fit testing for respirator use when required by the laboratory environment.
