Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks an on-site Laboratory Animal Care Technician to provide care and maintenance of laboratory animals and facilities under supervision. You will follow safety procedures, clean cages, sanitize rooms, and assist with equipment such as cages, autoclaves, and cleaning tools.

Training is provided; no prior experience required, with opportunities for career growth and benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience: No prior experience required; training provided.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with and wear required PPE.
• Operate cage washing and processing equipment; start-up/shut-down; maintain logs.
• Operate autoclave equipment and deliver sterile equipment.
• Process animal caging; add bedding and enrichment; inspect for damage.
• Clean and sanitize facilities; request supplies; coordinate with supervisor.
• Maintain floors; sweep/mop; use floor machines to remove wax.
• Follow safety procedures.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry; keep equipment clean.
• Maintain attendance and weekend work as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
