Job summary
GenScript USA Inc/ProBio Inc. is seeking an Automation Engineer to provide daily technical support for laboratory automation platforms at the Piscataway site.
You will troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on systems, including Tecan and Hamilton platforms, while building knowledge resources and SOPs for long-term operations. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and 1+ year of hands-on experience, with strong troubleshooting and documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Eng, Electrical Eng, Mechatronics, Automation or closely related field.
- 1+ year of relevant engineering experience in equipment support, automation, maintenance, manufacturing or related technical environment.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical and/or electrical equipment.
- Experience reading technical manuals, drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to perform systematic troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Strong technical documentation and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily technical support for laboratory automation platforms, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, sensor, robotic, communication, and software issues.
- Support automation platforms such as Tecan, Hamilton, and other lab automation equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain service history and troubleshooting records, and build an Automation Knowledge Base.
- Develop and update SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance procedures.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, upgrades, and small automation projects.
- Collaborate with lab users to resolve issues and improve automation platform operation.
