Job summary

GenScript Biotech Corp. in Piscataway, NJ, is seeking an Automation Specialist to develop and maintain high-throughput biomanufacturing automation workflows. You will support lab instruments, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive tech transfer across teams.

The role requires a mechanical/biomedical engineering background, 1+ year in automation, and experience with Tecan, Hamilton, and Thermo Momentum Scheduler. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or biomedical engineering or related fields.
• 1+ year of automation development experience in biomanufacturing.
• Experience with lab instrumentation and automation systems.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Experience troubleshooting liquid handling instruments (e.g., Tecan Fluent, Hamilton STAR).
• Experience writing scripts/protocols for Tecan, Hamilton, and Thermo Momentum Scheduler.
• Molecular biology experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop new automation workflows to meet high throughput biomanufacturing needs.
• Maintain and upgrade existing automation methods.
• Provide hands-on support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for lab instruments and systems.
• Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, software, and system integration issues.
• Manage project timeline and leverage internal resources to push projects forward.
• Communicate with other teams to ensure smooth tech transfer.
