Job summary

Paradise Valley Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Assistant per diem to support pre-analytical activities across pathology, microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank.

You will perform venipuncture only if certified per California law, handle specimen transport, labeling and storage, and assist with quality control under supervision in a busy hospital lab setting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Active California CPT I/II license for phlebotomy.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate preferred.
• BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained.
• Minimum of 1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties: computer entry, filing, calls.
• Greet patients and visitors with professional etiquette.
• Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills.
• Know laboratory terminology and phlebotomy practices.
• Venipuncture only if properly certified per California law.
• Process specimens across departments for pre-analytical work.

Education

HS Diploma or equivalent

California CPT I/II phlebotomy license

BCLS (AHA) certificate

BLS certification within 45 days

1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred
