Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for the General Laboratory. The role focuses on venous and capillary blood specimen collection, accurate labeling, and safe handling in a busy clinical environment.

The position requires proficiency with laboratory information systems (HIS/LIS) and adherence to strict confidentiality and safety standards. A HS diploma or GED is preferred, with certification in a standard lab discipline desirable.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Ability to perform venous and capillary blood collection.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
• Certification by NCA, ASCP, or ASPT desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Customer service and specimen collection is the first priority.
• Transcribes medical orders and orders appropriate laboratory tests; follows up with written orders when needed.
• Answer departmental phones and transfer calls; assist with obtaining and reporting test results while maintaining confidentiality.
• Use HIS, LIS and reference lab systems as appropriate; operate in manual systems when needed.
• Maintain neat, sanitary work areas and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
