Job summary

Alaska Regional Hospital is currently seeking a Lab Assistant PRN to join our Laboratory team in Anchorage. You will perform venipuncture and specimen handling, ensuring timely processing and clear communication with physicians and staff. The role supports multiple departments with a focus on compassionate patient care.

The position requires a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and strong communication abilities; phlebotomy experience is preferred. Training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Good computer skills; filing/clerical skills; ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous patient- and family-facing service.
• Obtain specimens via venipuncture and capillary collection; prepare for testing.
• Process reference lab specimens for shipment with timely turn-around.
• Verify orders and maintain logs; transcribe outpatient orders for test results.
• Train new staff in specimen receiving duties and responsibilities.
